Looking ahead to the Grand National in the spring? Well if you are one of the thousands of people planning to visit Aintree over that weekend, or indeed just one of the millions of us who will be placing a bet on the world’s greatest steeplechase, the Aintree Racecourse app is the perfect addition to the app armoury.
The Aintree racecourse app is available for the Apple iPhone from the iTunes store and can be downloaded on most Android devices from the Google Play online store. Whatever platform the app works equally well and just needs some spare memory. It’s particularly good if you’re visiting Aintree at any point of the year, but anyone interested in a bet or two would benefit from some of the insider knowledge it offers.
A Little About Aintree
Located in Merseyside close to Liverpool, Aintree is one of the most famous racecourses on the planet thanks to its staging of the annual Grand National. The world’s greatest steeplechase sees the volume of bets placed with bookmakers soar and it is just about the biggest event of the racing year, apart perhaps from the Cheltenham Festival and Gold Cup.
The course is famous throughout the racing fraternity as one of the most fearsome of the jump season. There are 16 steeplechase fences including the likes of The Chair, Foinavon, Valentine’s Brook, Canal Turn and Becher’s Brook.
It’s not just the Grand National that is staged on the full course – each year the Topham Chase and the Fox Hunters’ Chase at the Grand National meeting, and the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase and Becher Chase during the November meeting, take place on the main track. National Hunt races take place on the smaller Mildmay course throughout the season.
Aintree Racecourse App Review
So let’s be clear, the Aintree racecourse app is not a betting app per se, but an application designed to enhance the user’s knowledge of the course itself through a multimedia tour of the course. It’s all about telling the story of Aintree and the great race for which it is famous. The Aintree Racecourse app is ideal if you are attending the Grand National Festival or any of the other races that take place at the venue throughout the year.
If you are looking to place a bet during the festival a well reputable bookie, both online and on the high street is Ladbrokes. They offer really good new customer offers as well as ensuring they are continually looking after the existing customers too! Check them out from the link below.
The Aintree racecourse app is a treasure trove of information and beautiful images. It lists each of the jumps on the main National course in detail and provides colourful illustrations of them all. Facts about who or what particular jumps are named after are included, while if you want to know who exactly was Edward Topham, for example, the app has all the details.
Knowing about the various jumps on this famous course is certainly fun and insightful. For racing aficionados, particularly those with an eye on the history of the event, it’s well worth looking at as the detail is superb. Finally, we also liked the clarity of the Aintree map that is included on the app.

All in all this is more of a fun racing app than anything else. But it’s available on iOS and Android platforms and is well worth looking at.
iOS users (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) – The app was updated earlier this year (March 7th), the update brought a new look to the Aintree racecourse app and new content was added to enhance the user’s experience.
Device compatibility – The Aitree app requires a minimum of iOS 8.0 and is compatible with the iPad, iPod touch and the iPhone.
Android users – For the Android users out there, the app was also updated on April 8th. Which brought the same changes that were made to the iOS version of app, to further improve the user’s experience when visiting this amazing racecourse.
