Horse Race Tracker Odds app – Great tool

Lots of apps do lots of different things, some of which are useful for the average punter or casual gambler. This app has a lot more than that – it’s the perfect addition to any serious player’s app inventory.

The Horse Racing Tracker and Odds app is a one-stop-shop for following horses, jockeys and trainers. For the more measured gambler, this app ties in with some more sophisticated approaches to betting.

Not that you need to be a proper gambler – punters will find this just as fun as other apps as it gives a different range of information, tips and so on.

Available on both the iPhone at the iTunes store and Android devices via Google Play, this app is a genuinely useful piece of kit for gambling on horse races in the UK and Ireland.

Horse Race Tracker  Odds app review

The app covers races in the UK and Ireland, which is great but an international perspective would be nice for such a useful app. Nonetheless, for most people it’s more than enough.

For us the main standout feature is the odds comparison with major bookmakers. So it’s easy to compare prices from the likes of Ladbrokes, William Hill and many more besides. Punters often don’t bother to search for the best odds – which can be a mistake as there can be some pretty large differences between the various bookmakers, especially on the bigger races like the Grand National or the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Comparing odds across the different bookies is so easy with this app that it will definitely save you lots of money if you’re betting regularly.

The other main element of the app is being able to track any horse, jockey or trainer wherever they are. You can even filter so a particular horse only appears when it’s a certain distance or course – in other words this app is a joy for the serious gambler as it means they can let it do the hard yards for them.

Just key in the horses you want to follow at any part of the season and the app does it all. As part of this you get two push notifications when the horse is declared to run prior to the race day and one hour from the start of the race. A third notification comes with the result of your favourite. Best of all, with each of these notifications you get the best odds from the bookmakers covered.

One new section is the tips zone, which gives users tonnes of great info about past performance, current form and all the usual tipster information.

You can also see next race cards and results from the last seven days. Racing cards include the race name, distance, going, age, runners, horse, jockey, form, weight, trainer, days since last run and the all-important odds comparison.

Features of the Horse Race Tracker Odds app

  • Select your favourite horses, trainers and jockeys
  • Receive three push notifications when your horse, jockey or trainer is running
  • Today and tomorrow’s racing cards
  • Horse racing results from the last 7 days from around the UK and Ireland
  • Compare odds from the biggest bookmakers

The Horse Race Tracker Odds is one of the best we’ve seen. It’s got some truly innovative functionality and it well worth adding to your phone if you want to improve your betting strategy.

Betting advice

While we’re on betting tipsters, it’s worth noting that there is a whole more to the app than just the opinions of a few experts. We particularly liked the Verdicts section of the card, which lets you see how each horse should perform.

The iCard Predictor, which you can launch as a standalone tab from the app, gives a prediction of how each horse ‘should’ perform in the race you are looking at. This gets pretty technical but essentially it’s all about pulling out as many different bits of data as possible to come up with a bias – more than 60 different parameters are included. This involves everything from current form, past form and course form, to the weight, jockey, trainer and going. The great thing is you can edit these to suit your own requirements and betting approach.

Racecourse information

We really like the colourful and vivid racecourse information graphics that comes with the app. As soon as you sign up you can view full course information and graphics, contact information, how to get there and so on.

All in all, it’s hard not to like the array of features you get from the app and it’s really quite easy to navigate and use. As an all-round racing app for the iPhone or Android device, it’s right up there.

Daily Racing form app

Daily racing form app logoAnyone familiar with Daily Racing Form app will appreciate that there is a fair amount of pedigree behind this app, which is available on both Android and Apple devices.

Daily Racing Form has been at the heart of the US horse racing world for 120 years and it continues to lead the pack with innovation today. Whether you want the latest odds or access to some of the finest tipsters around, the Daily Racing Form app is a sure-fire winner.

Daily Racing Form app review

Let’s be clear from the start about the Daily Racing Form app – it’s an American product and it’s very much geared towards the US market. So don’t expect results from the 3:20 at Lingfield, the latest odds on The Derby or directions to the stands for Ladies Day at Ascot. What you’ll get instead is all the information on what’s happening across the pond, with results, news, racecards, live odds from Saratoga, Del Mar, Gulfstream and more. If the Kentucky Derby is more your idea of racing than the Grand National, then this is the app for you.

So, to the app itself, and first of all the reviews on the Google Play and iTunes stores. Punters and professionals rate this app highly, with it scoring above four out of five stars on both platforms.

The look is simple, even puritan, with a white background and only as much info as you would need on each page. It’s not a bright, colourful screen that pops up, but this is all to the good really as it’s actually super easy to use and navigate around as a result. It takes up about six megabytes on Android but is a bit juicier on the iPhone with ten megabytes of free space needed to get it up and running.

The app is all about providing you with vital stats without too many frills. The Entries section is great. Once a race card is drawn it will instantly show up here. Real-time results are streamed direct to the app so you can keep up to date on payouts from across the US.

Live Odds is also useful as it gives users access to the tote in real-time for any race at any track. This even includes visibility into the WPS pools and Exacta-Daily Double Probables so you can get the best price wherever you are.

One element that’s particularly good is DRF Live, where you can find handicappers and reporters providing insights into the tote board, observations of the paddock and exotic betting suggestions all in real time as the MTP heads towards zero.

Race Analysis at the major tracks is now taken directly from the DRF print issue, so you’re not getting an abridged version. Another new function that came with the latest update is Best Bet for every track so you see what the top choice is from the publication’s handicappers. There’s also now a Race Chart for every race. The Closer Looks section is another feature we really liked as it gives a great pre-race breakdown for each runner.

It’s hard to beat the Daily Racing Form app if you’re interested in the US horse racing market. With such a user-friendly version available on both Android and iOS we think it’s well worth the effort to download.
