Features of the app

Race card for all the 15 race courses covered on the appRace cards

A great addition to this app is the race cards for each of the events. Usually if you’re going to the track then you’ll buy a race card for around £2-£4 depending on the event. This has all the details of the runners and riders in each race plus the owners information and the recent form of the horse. Along with this you’ll get the horses official rating, weight and age.

Betting

We were surprised to see that whist there are odds displayed on the app theres no facility to get your bets on. This is probably to push you to use the on course betting stands, which in our opinion you should do as its all part of the fun of the day. If you do want to bet on your mobile then check out our our guide to the top UK betting apps here. Betting is something we’d expect to see added at some point on this app in the future to make it even easier to get your bets on.

Competitions

The Jockey Club regularly have competitions on both the app and social media (Twitter @TheJockeyClub). These range from winning tickets to races to other give aways. The app has a built in game for you to pick horses and win points, this is a fantasy game to pick 5 horses a day that you think will win.

You select you daily “sure thing” along with 5 other horses and get points if they win. The higher the odds of the horse the more points you get. If a bit like daily fantasy football just with horses and you can pick which ever horses you want. The points are then accumulated in a league so you can see if your a horse racing expert or just a novice punter!

Plan your day on the app, from parking to the dress codePlan your day

One of the handiest features of the Jockey Club app is the plan your day tab. This is great to check everything you need to know before you set off and to make sure you don’t get turned away with the wrong dress code!

You can find tickets for the races here and buy them through the app. These will accrue Jockey club points like all purchases which can then be exchanged for money off other purchases or free days at the races.

There’s full details of the where to park at the race course with is a great help at the busier festivals. It’s also handy to check out and make sure you get the car park closest to where your stand is to avoid having to walk the length of the race course to get in!

This is also where you’ll find the race card as mentioned above along with a small history of each course.

Jockey Club click and collect app

Click and collect you drinks with the Jockey Club appGet the beers in!!!

At the larger race meets there is a separate app from the Jockey Club where you can get the beers in! Simply tap the course and the nearest bar and you can order your drinks in advance for collection at a certain time. This is awesome and saves a big queue when the bar is 3 deep. Tap what you want to order, pay the bill and then just arrive at the collection point at the right time and get your drinks. The perfect thing for a day at the races.

About the Jockey Club

Formed in 1790 the Jockey Club has been around a long time and has evolved to still be at the forefront of racing today. It was previously responsible for the governance of UK racing but is now a corporate structure that runs race courses instead.

It has various other arms including training grounds, thoroughbred program and its racing charity racing welfare who help people in the racing industry who need it.
