I’ve been going racing for over 20 years now, and one of the biggest changes I’ve seen in that time isn’t the horses or the racecourses – it’s how we follow the sport.
Where I used to turn up with a newspaper tucked under my arm and a racecard bought at the gate, I now walk in with most of the information I need sitting on my phone. Horse racing apps have completely changed how fans engage with the sport, whether you’re at the track, watching from home, or simply keeping an eye on results during a busy day.
This site is a personal project of mine, built purely out of a love for horse racing. I’m not interested in betting apps here – this is about the tools, guides and official apps that help you understand racing better and enjoy it more.
What I Mean by Horse Racing Apps
When I talk about horse racing apps, I’m referring to apps that help you:
- View racecards and runners
- Check results and finishing positions
- Follow specific horses, trainers or jockeys
- Watch live racing or replays
- Understand race conditions, tracks and fixtures
Some of these are official apps from broadcasters or racing authorities, while others are independent tools created by people who clearly love the sport as much as I do.
Types of Horse Racing Apps I Cover
To keep things organised, I’ve grouped apps into clear categories. Each section focuses on how the app actually helps a racing fan, not on gimmicks.
Racecards & Form Apps
These apps focus on runners, race details and recent performances. I use them constantly on race days, especially when I’m moving between races or courses.
Results & Statistics Apps
Ideal if you like keeping track of results, past races and season-long performance trends across UK racing.
Horse & Stable Tracking Apps
Some apps allow you to follow favourite horses, trainers or jockeys, making it easy to see when and where they’re running next.
Live Coverage & Replay Apps
From live broadcasts to race replays and highlights, these apps are perfect if you can’t always be at the track in person.
Free Horse Racing Apps
Not every useful app comes with a subscription. I also cover free apps that genuinely add value for racing fans.
How I Review Horse Racing Apps
Every app I write about is reviewed from the point of view of a racegoer and long-time follower of the sport.
I focus on:
- Ease of use on a race day
- Quality and clarity of information
- How useful the app is for UK racing specifically
- Whether it genuinely enhances the racing experience
If I wouldn’t use an app myself, I won’t recommend it here.
Horse Racing Apps & UK Racecourses
Many of the apps I cover tie in closely with specific racecourses or major race meetings. As someone who still loves the atmosphere of being on course, I’m particularly interested in apps that improve the race day experience rather than replace it.
You’ll often see app reviews linked alongside my UK racecourse guides, especially where official course apps, maps or live information are available.
Why This Site Exists
Horse racing has a deep history in the UK, and while technology has changed how we follow it, the heart of the sport is still the same. This site is my way of sharing what I’ve learned over the years – from racecourses and festivals to the apps that make modern racing easier to follow.
If you’re new to racing or you’ve been going as long as I have, I hope you’ll find something useful here.
